June Putt

Cave Creek, AZ

June 20, 2025

The Over The Hill Gang June 20th putt was a tour of the Rick Cox Collection in Cave Creek.  We met at the CVS in Cave Creek and then went a short distance down the road to Rick’s estate.  We first gathered in the large room where he normally does his car displays but it was empty as he had hosted an event for Phoenix Children’s the night before.  He does a tremendous amount of charity work.  There were so many stuffed game animals in the alcove above (including an elephant) which he made sure we knew he had not shot.  We then toured his musical collection which was phenomenal.  He had mementos from every rock and roll musician we had ever heard of.

We them went to see his cars.  He only had around 10 but most of them were Kindig productions.  He has the first CF-1 (carbon fiber knockoff of a ’53 Vette) but Kindig had picked it up the night before so we did not get to see it. Anyway, it was a marvelous tour.  There were over 30 of us in attendance (30 OTHG plus about 7 or 8 folks that our tour facilitator brought along).  The tour was set up by Ernie Oakes, the Goodguys Rodders Rep from Phoenix.  Gary Aden had met him at Del Mar and he was more than happy to set this up.  We then went to Heart & Soul for a lunch that was almost as good as the tour.  A good time was had by all.

May Putt

Glendale, AZ

May 19, 2025

Larry and Teresa Way arranged the May breakfast putt to Ronnie’s Café in Glendale, AZ.  A total of 33 people attended. The food was excellent, the conversations cordial and our waitress, Kaylee, was outstanding! Everyone had a great time eating and socializing. After breakfast, 19 of the Gang set off for the Sanderson Ford Car Museum in Glendale, AZ. The museum was started to preserve the Sanderson family’s collection of vehicles and collectibles. We had a private tour led by Matt for us to view and walk through and celebrate the heritage of Sanderson Ford.

April Putt

Apache Junction, AZ

April 19, 2025

The April Putt put on by Jim and Carol Dalton was aboard The Steamboat Dolly on Canyon Lake. We had 19 members and 2 guest plus a full boat of paying passengers. If you haven’t taken this cruise, it is highly recommended. The slow cruising around the lake added for a very relaxing time. We enjoyed the scenery of the shapes and colors of the cliffs of the canyon that borders the lake. We were also lucky enough to see two Bald Eagles and their nest. As the boat got closer the birds took flight as if it was planned. They flew around for a short time and returned to the nest. It is always amazing to see these beautiful birds in flight. As we neared the turn around area of the lake, we were treated to a heard of Long Horn Sheep. The boat ride lasted for about an hour and a half. After the cruise we all headed up to Tortilla Flats which was only a few miles up the road. Jim and Carol had made reservations for us at the Superstition Saloon. We were all seated together and within an hour, we had all eaten and were ready to leave. We had great service and great food and a GREAT DAY. Thank you Jim and Carol for a fantastic Putt.
