Our club picnic at Bartlett Lake was moved to March due to rain last November. There have been record setting temperatures here in Phoenix this March so the time was moved up a couple of hours to beat the heat. We were all finished by noon as the temps were rising to close 100 degrees! We had close to 40 members join in the fun. It was a great time as usual with good food and good friends.

Midnight at the Oasis 2026

March 6-8, 2026

Yuma, AZ.

Once again, a group of us took in the Midnight at the Oasis Car Show sponsored by the Caballeros de Yuma. It is such a great show! With your entry get a reserved parking space on the field as well as food every day (the free beer on Saturday is a nice touch) and concerts in the stadium at night. There were a couple of issues with a couple of cars, one was mine! The Pertronix module in my distributor decided to quit, not being able to find a replacement we changed out the distributor and it was running again, Thanks Art!! Everyone made it there and back safely. On the way to Yuma there was a KILLER POTHOLE that most of us missed except a couple that ran right over it! Only one bent rim but no other issues. What a great weekend!

Havasu Hot Rods

February 26 – 28, 2026

Lake Havasu City, AZ

Carol and I attended the Havasu show.  As expected, it was very good.  We arrived about noon on Thursday, Feb. 26th, dropped our bags at the Holiday Inn Express which was conveniently located to the show activities, and drove over to be parked on McCullough Ave – along with 350 other cool cars. It is very impressive to look down a seven or eight block stretch and see nothing except the crowd around all these great cars.  So many people who owned Model A trucks and I loved talking to them.  As I have often said, “If you don’t like to talk, don’t take your car to a car show”.

Friday was the garage tours – fantastic homes and garages with fantastic cars.  Love to see all that money.

Saturday was show and shine in the local park.  We snuck out early as we had seen most of everything on the Avenue on Thursday.

February Putt

Surprise, AZ

February 14, 2026

A Valentine’s Day Fabulous 50’s Putt was hosted by Don and Bonnie McDonald and Ron and Carol Boen on Feb 14th, at the Boen’s home. It was a near perfect weather day. There was approx. 60 people in attendance and 19 classic cars! The cars are always impressive. The outfits worn in the true 50’s style were outstanding!

Jonathon of Metal/Body Classics was asked to serve as our car judge. His overall pick for attire and best car went to Mike and Suzy Arney for their 1956 Ford Victoria. The trophy was a parking meter that had been in Bonnie’s family for a long time. With Ron Boen’s expertise it was turned into a great trophy!

Another fun part of the day was the Hot Wheel races. Each person paid $5.00 to enter the races. The girls really showed the fellas how to race! Val Altgilbers won 1st place and a cash prize of $85.00. The other half of the pot will go to the club. Harriett Zeaman came in 2nd place winning a toy Coca Cola truck and trailer. Way to go ladies!

Besides all that there was a hula hoop contest won by Ruth Whitfeldt and a bubble gum blowing contest won by Debbie Thomas.

There were burgers, hot dogs, root beer floats, and chocolate sundaes. To end the day, the Hometown Hero’s barbershop quartet stopped by and sang a few songs!

Thanks to ALL who helped make the day happen and ALL the attendees!
