Mouse Motors Garage Putt

Glendale, AZ

Russ Whitfeldt, Gary Aden and Ron Omstead along with the Over The Hill Gang hosted a Putt at Mouse’s Garage.
     In attendance we had 38 members of the club and I’m guessing we had over 20 other Hot Rodder show up. Ron invited a lot of his friends from the past and present and club members invited some of their friends as well. It was fun to sit and watch these car pull in. They ranged from full custom, race cars, open wheel T buckets, Model A’s to 30’s to 40’s to 50’s and 60’s hot rods. It was a true array of American metal.
      The club provided the food and drinks. Gary, Ron and I went back and forth on trying to figure out how much food to get and as it turned out, the right amount was purchased because we didn’t have any left overs. One of the best parts of the day was, we didn’t have one complaint about the food. As a matter of fact, we had a lot of people asked, “Where did we get the sandwiches?”  Costco.
       It was fun to see so many people hanging out together, telling stories or just reconnecting and talking about the old days of drag racing and hot rods.
        It was a great day to be a Hot Rodder and it took a TEAM EFFORT to make it a successful PUTT. Thank you everyone.

2025 New Years Day Breakfast

Glendale, AZ

For the past 8 years Ron Boen and John Logsdon have invited area old cars and street rodders to the Ron and John’s New Years Breakfast Cruise.  After several years with the January 1st party held at different venues the last three years have been located at Kimmyz Rock N Roll Bar and Grill at 5930 W. Greenway Road in Glendale.

To start out New Year 2025 a group of 84 car enthusiasts met old friends and made new ones at Kimmyz for a breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, fruit, toast and coffee/soft drinks.  Kimmyz bar was open for extra cost beverages

The event always sells out using the original format which required pre-registration with a promise to show up and pay cash at the door.  Driving one’s old car or street rod was encouraged.

Thanks to all the hungry participants who made the event successful by attending.  A big thank you to O’Reilly Auto Parts, Speedway Motors, Vintage Parts of Arizona and Discount Tires for their donations for “goodie bags”.  Special credit is due to Kayla and her Kimmyz staff for providing a great menu and tasty food for our group after working late on New Years eve.

Positive comments were received and plans for next year’s event are on the calendar.

2024 Christmas Party

American Legion Hall, Sun City, AZ

December 7, 2024

We had 39 members attend the party at the American Legion Hall in Peoria this year. There was a special group who showed up early to move tables & chairs, cover the tables and decorate. Thanks to all those who helped make it happen. Our usual band, the Reboot, played and sung a large variety of western, swing and pop music. The food was handled by Pablo and his people. The report was very positive & nobody went home hungry. Our timing was lucky, since the staff children’s party was just before ours, they had decorated the entire room with the Polar Express theme, including a train, lights, trees & other cool stuff. That was a big help for the setup crew. ( Note for next year to schedule the same time) Sharon Murray spent many hours hand making the center piece decorations. The person with the special Santa sticker under their chair, took home the center piece for their table. We discovered how may kids we have in the club, as they all wanted to be photographed on the train. In all, it was nice to see everyone enjoying themselves and sharing their stories and showing off their favorite Christmas outfit.

Bartlett Lake Picnic 2024

Carefree, AZ

November 17, 2024

It was a beautiful day for the cruise and picnic!
There were approximately 40 club members in attendance at the Rattlesnake Cove picnic area.
We had plenty of hamburgers, hot dogs and side dishes, hors d’oeuvres and deserts. Gary Aden provided some great harmonica music that
was enjoyed by all.

October Putt

Glendale, AZ

Ruth and I hosted the October Putt at The Place Restaurant in Glendale. We had 36 people show up. Most of us drove our regular cars because rain had been predicted but with luck it never materialized. The restaurant personnel went way beyond by making our breakfast experience an excellent one. I only heard of one person that didn’t get what they ordered and that was Ruth.  It was all worked out with a smile on her face and the diligent of the wait staff. We also had a friend staying with us from Australia. He said, that was the most yellow he had ever seen in one place and enjoyed hanging out with all you Yanks. Thanks for making him feel welcomed.
